Abuja - There was news that came up yesterday that the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development has appealed to Nigerians to be patient and allow it to investigate the matter with comprehensive report on the discovery of Nickel in Kaduna State.
This was writing in a statement signed by the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Mr Mohammed Abbas in Abuja.
Nickel may be a substance with image nickel|metallic element|metal} and number 28.
It is a silvery-white lustrous metal with a small golden tinge. Nickel belongs to the transition metals and is solid and ductile.
According to the statement, since the primary discovery several months past, technical experts from the ministry have been following up on the development as provided by law.
"The ministry is conscious of the joy within the media regarding the invention of Nickel in elements of Kaduna state.
"This is completely comprehendible considering the partial assay of the mineral assets documented.
"The ministry is conscious of the prevalence of the mineral within the space.
"We charm to the final public to permit the Ministry to return up with elaborated reports on the new realize,” it said.
A private mining firm discovered the “world class and highly unusual” Nickel. The personal mining syndicate is reportedly headed by Hugh Morgan, a mining industry veteran.
“The discovery is uncommon as a result of the nickel is found in tiny balls up to 3mm in diameter of a high purity in shallow soils in what may well be the surface expression of a far larger hard-rock nickel field,”
“The nickel balls, rumored to grade better than 90 per cent nickel and thought to be a world first given their widespread distribution, offer the potential for early cash flow from a simple and low-cost screening operation to fund a full assessment of the find that has exploration circles buzzing.”
