It is very common
in Nigeria, West Africa country their college students finding it very
difficult to make their West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) and Senior
School Exam results in their first attempt of writing the exam.
Unfortunately, it
is the cause of not being serious. Unseriousness has become part of them which
is the major problem affecting their academic performance. Some of the students
who were willing to solve this problem that has been beveling them. But it is difficult
because of their family background.
What I meant by
family background, the family is not bust up financially, probably not all these
students find it difficult because of their family background.
What I mean not all
these students find it difficult to making their WAEC result, but still lack
support of their parent.
STUDENTS DESERVE SUPPORT FROM
PARENTS
1. Child
Abuse: Some of
the college students are brilliant but they came from the poor home. Countries
that mostly involve in this kind of situations are “ African and Asian
countries” it has been difficult for students to stay at home and read, because
they engage in some other activities like trading and hulking on the street for
daily bread. This process as been keeping them away of taking their assignment
or stopping them from reading.
2. Parental
Care: College student some how needs full
support from his/her parents in this aspect student are needed to be summoned
or to call their attention to go through whatever they have been taught at
school. I am talking about the one’s from the rich homes and average homes.
3. Influence of Bad Gangs: College student even teens are now being influenced by bad friends or
engaging themselves in one or more secret activity “Cultist” Imagine at college
level, instead of taking his/her time studying devotional. It is a habit, especially
prevalent among students, they need for deceit from each other. We advise
student to control themselves from being allowed to be deceived, it is the
beginning of failure to fall in friends trap.
ENGAGING IN SOME OF CHEATING
Is much debated, the student
does cheat in schools now a days. Cheating and dishonesty are increasing
problem that as imitate so many college students. Cheating in schools, both the
college and higher education: students do about it and it is now an important
educator to find a solution to the controversial problem.
Some scholar asks
this question McCabe, Butterfield, and Trevino present their findings related
to cheating in American Universities, they outline the causes of student
cheating and offer solutions.
The authors state
that their focus is on honor codes and part of the work is geared towards
promoting the benefits of the honor code at universities despite this end goal,
the information on cheating is beneficial to all individuals working in
schools.

for the purposes of their research, the authors defined cheating as copying
materials without proper citation, getting exam questions in advance,
collaborative homework, turning a paper done by others and using notes in the
exam hall.
The most interesting part of
cheating is when student still using the same method he use in other exams, to
cheat during external exams.
Now he or she discovers that he keeps
failing. “Though failure is not the end of life” The most painful part is to
keep trying until success reign.
My conclusion is student should not depend on cheating and educators should safeguard the academic integrity involving stakeholders in both colleges and higher institutions.
